Fringed Wrap Free Crochet Pattern


MATERIALS:

4 Skeins Patons Brilliant in Green Glitter, size H crochet hook or size to obtain gauge, 2 size 3 snaps, sewing needle and sewing thread.

GAUGE: 7 sts = 1-1\2", 5 rows = 1"

FINISHED SIZE: 44" long

WRAP:

ROW 1: With yarn and H hook ch-19, sc 2nd ch from hook, (dc next ch, sc next ch) across to last ch, dc last ch, ch-1, turn. (18 sts)

ROW 2-45: (sc next st, dc next st) across, ch-1, turn.

ROW 46: (sc, dc) next 2 sts, (sc next st, dc next st) across, ch-1, turn. (20 sts) .

ROW 47: (sc next st, dc next st) across, ch-1, turn.
ROW 48-79: Rep row 46-47. End row 78 (32 sts)
ROW 80-95: Rep row 47.

ROW 96: Sk 1st st, sc next st, dc dec next 2 sts, (sc next st, dc next st) across, ch-1, turn. (30 sts)

ROW 97: Rep row 47.

ROW 98-129: Rep row 96-97. End row 128 (18 sts)

ROW 130-174: Rep row 47.

RND 175: Evenly sc ea st and end row around outer edge of wrap and working (sc, ch-2, sc) in ea corner, sl st top beg sc, fasten off.

Ea st along the under edge of wrap has one fringe attached. Begin with 36" length of yarn, fold in half and attach to st. Continue along the rows with 18 sts and then beg to decrease length of yarn as the st count of row increased until you are attaching a 16" folded length of yarn to the ends of row 80-95 and then beg increasing until 36" for rows 130-174. Lay wrap on a flat surface and trim fringe to one length across. Sew snaps at short edges.

You can shorten or lengthen the wrap by adding or removing end rows.

MATERIALS:

Size 10 crochet thread in Pumpkin and size 7 crochet hook or hook to obtain gauge

GAUGE: 4 hdc = 1\2", 8 rows hdc = 1", 2 rows pattern = 1\2".

CAPE:

ROW 1: With Pumpkin and & hook ch-
56, dc 6th ch from hook, (ch-1, sk 1 ch, dc next ch) across, ch-4, turn.

ROW 2: Sk 1st dc, (dc next st, ch-1) across ending with ch-1, dc in 3rd ch of previous rows ch-4 turn, ch-4, turn.

ROW 3: Sk 1st dc, dc next st, * ch-3, work 4 dc cl in next st, sk next st, work 4 dc cl in next st, ch-3, dc in next st, ch-1, dc next st, * rep bet ** across ending with ch-1, dc in 3rd ch of previous rows ch-4, turn, ch-4, turn.

ROW 4: Sk 1st dc, dc next st, * ch-2, 4 dc cl in top 1st cl st, ch-3, 4 dc cl in sa cl st, ch-2, dc next st, ch-1, dc next st, * rep bet ** across ending with dc in 3rd ch of previous rows ch-4 turn, ch-4, turn.

ROW 5: Sk 1st dc, dc next dc, * ch-1, dc in 1st cl st, ch-1, dc in next ch-3 sp, ch-1, dc next cl st, (ch-1, dc next st) twice, * rep bet () ending with ch-1, dc in 3rd ch of previous rows ch-4 turn, ch-4, turn.

Rep row 2-5 a total of 8 times. Then rep row 2 once, fasten off.

CAPE’S COLLAR:

ROW 1: With Pumpkin and 7 hook ch-22, hdc 3rd ch from hook, hdc ea ch across, ch-1, turn. (20 sts)

ROW 2-45: Hdc ea st across, ch-1, turn. End row 45 fasten off.

With needle and crochet thread sew short ends tog to form a lp. Sew long edges top to form a tube. Fold tube flat so that seam is toward the inside of collar. Lay cape on inside edge and
sew in place. Cape fits over doll’s head and onto shoulders.







I got the idea for this unusual cape from a 1950’s movie. In it one of the characters was a high fashion model. She came out in an evening gown with this mass of chiffon flowing everywhere and only connected to a collar. I thought it an interesting idea and decided to test it out in a much smaller version.
