Tree Rug and Pillow Free Crochet Pattern

This week's pattern could easily be called a Christmas theme pattern, but I think it could work well for every day use especially if you change the colors.

It is called: Tree Rug and Pillow

What give this pattern a bit of punch is the blanket stitch edging I used around each section of the trees and the triangles that edge the rug and the pillow.

Any worsted weight yarn can easily be used in place of the suede yarn the pattern calls for.

Square Loop Pillow Free Crochet Pattern
Materials:

2 skeins Red Heart Kids yarn in Beach, stuffing, needle to take yarn and H crochet hook or hook needed to obtain gauge.

FINISHED SIZE: 12" square

Gauge: 4 hdc sts = 1", 6 rows pattern = 1"

SQUARE PILLOW FRONT:

ROW 1: With Beach & H hook ch-50, hdc 3rd ch from hook, hdc ea ch across, turn.(48 sts)

ROW 2: (ch-12, sl st next 2 sts) across, ch-1, turn. (24 lps)

ROW 3: Hdc ea st across, ch-1, turn.

ROW 4-72: Rep row 2 & 3 alternating. End row 72 fasten off.

SQUARE PILLOW BACK:

ROW 1: With Beach and H hook ch-50, hdc 3rd ch from hook, hdc ea ch across, ch-1, turn. (48 sts)

ROW 2-36: Hdc ea st across, ch-1, turn. End row 36 fasten off.

With needle and yarn sew front to back stuffing as you sew.
Again, a bit more advanced then the others in the series.

PILLOW FRONT:

With Beach and H hook ch-4, sl st to form a ring.

RND 1: Ch-1, work 12 hdc in ring, sl st top beg hdc, turn. (12 sts)

RND 2: (Ch-12, sl st next 2 sts) around, ch-1, turn. (6 lps)

RND 3: Press lps to wrong side of work, (2 hdc next st, hdc next st) around, sl st top beg hdc, turn. (18 sts)

RND 4: Rep rnd 2. (9 lps)

RND 5: Rep rnd 3. (27 sts)

RND 6: (Ch-12, sl st next 2 sts) around to last st, ch-12, sl st last st, ch-1, turn. (14)

With needle and yarn sew front to back stuffing as you sew.

To make a smaller 7" pillow or loop circle to cover a small round of corkboard work rnd 1-19. Then using the smaller circle as a pattern, cut one of corkboard. Glue loop circle to front of corkboard and hand with 3mm removable tape. If making the 7" pillow work rnd 1-10 of pillow back and sew tog as you did for the larger pillow.

More advanced pattern than the others in the series.
